Prof. Milton "Tony" Lee Confirmed as DC Superior Ct. Associate Judge

Milton LeeCongratulations to longtime - and well-loved - former clinician and ongoing adjunct UDC-DCSL faculty member Magistrate Judge Milton "Tony" Lee, who after nomination by President Obama last winter, was confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as an Associate Judge on the District of Columbia Superior Court.

Professor Lee was appointed a Magistrate Judge of the D.C. Superior Court in December 1997. As a member of the Superior Court Task Force for Families and Violence, he assisted in the development of the Teen Court Diversion Program. In 2007, he was appointed to preside over the D.C. Superior Court's newly instituted Fathering Court.

He was a member of the UDC-DCSL faculty until the fall of 1997, supervising in the Juvenile Justice Clinic and teaching Criminal Law, Evidence, Wills & Estates, and Trial Advocacy.

Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Lee worked for the Public Defender Service, as a staff attorney from 1985 to 1990 and as Deputy Trial Chief from 1990-1993. During the 1990-91 academic year, Professor Lee was a Visiting Associate Professor of Law serving the Criminal Justice Clinic at the Georgetown University Law Center. Professor Lee has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Georgetown and taught in the Harvard Trial Advocacy Program for several years. He has been a consistent contributor to the Criminal Practice Institute, Neglect Practice Institute and many other local bar programs.

Professor Lee teaches Evidence and Wills and Estates. The student body named him Professor of the Year in 1995 and 2004.
