Washington, DC— University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC-DCSL) has earned a #1 national ranking for its commitment to service in the community.

National Jurist has given UDC-DCSL the #1 spot in "Schools with the most community service hours per student." Each year, UDC-DCSL provides more than 100,000 hours of essential legal services to DC residents, breaking down to roughly 360 hours per student.

"We want our students to make a meaningful contribution," Hannah Lieberman, associate dean of Experiential and Clinical Programs, told National Jurist.

This distinction adds to the list of other top rankings for UDC-DCSL. Through its robust clinic program, vast internship & externship options and the the Summer Public Interest Fellowship program, UDC-DCSL has garnered the #7 spot for its government & public interest job placement rate nationally. PreLaw Magazine ranked UDC-DCSL #8 in its "Best Schools for Public Interest" rankings and Princeton Review recently ranked UDC-DCSL #2 Most Chosen By Older Students, "#3 Best Environment for Minority Students," and "#4 Most Diverse Faculty."

U.S. News & World Report's Best Law Schools 2016 also ranked UDC-DCSL second in diversity and in the top 10 for clinical legal training in its rankings of 198 law schools fully accredited by the American Bar Association over the last several years.

“At UDC-DCSL, our curriculum, community and culture are focused on social justice and community service. We've worked diligently to keep our tuition low enough so our graduates can actually afford to have public interest legal careers without mountains of debt,” Shelley Broderick, UDC-DCSL Dean, said.
