Honorable Hal Moroz

After being postponed twice, the 2020 Georgia Primary Election is now scheduled to take place on June 9th with early voting beginning May 18th.

Hon. Hal Moroz, '95 is the sole challenger to sitting justice Sarah Hawkins Warren who was appointed to the Georgia State Supreme Court by former Governor Nathan Deal in 2018.  According to his website, Hal "served as an Assistant District Attorney, a County Judge, and a city Chief Judge in the great State of Georgia. His practice in the law has ranged from prosecuting criminals on behalf of the State of Georgia to representing American military veterans in courts up to and including the Supreme Court of the United States. He is not currently in the private practice of law.

Judge Moroz is also an accomplished soldier and statesman, as well as a retired U.S. Army officer, having served in the Airborne Infantry. Judge Moroz served on the faculty of Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida, and the State Bar of Georgia's Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) for the education of attorneys."

And, as you will see when you visit his site, he proudly lists his law school!

If elected, Judge Moroz would be our fourth alum to serve on a state supreme court joining sitting judges Tom Kilbride, '81 of Illinois, Mike Wilson, '79 of Hawaii and Kevin Dougherty, '87 of Pennsylvania.
