D'Annette Roy, '18: Legislative & Policy Advisor for DC Office of Cable Television

D'Annette Roy '18Congrats to D'Annette Roy, '18, recently hired and now serving as the Legislative and Policy Advisor for the DC Office of Cable Television, Film Music and Entertainment (OCTFME). 

Working under the direction of the agency's general counsel within the division of Legal and Regulatory Affairs (“LARA”), D'Annette is responsible for providing legislative/regulatory guidance to ensure compliance with applicable District and federal laws and regulations. Additionally, D'Annette assists in regulating cable service and cable service providers in the District of Columbia through the enforcement of the District’s cable franchise agreements in compliance with District and federal cable laws and regulations. She's also responsible for drafting, and/or reviewing agency agreements including broadcast, content production, program acquisition and distribution, related licensing agreements, and pre-broadcast standards and practices/rights management content review.

Before attending UDC Law, D'Annette won a number of awards during a fifteen year career as a producer, reporter and manager of broadcast and digital mass media video for such organizations as CTV, Discovery Communications, WJZ-TV, among others.
