UDC Law Alumna, Student sworn in as DC Commissioners

Congratulations to Rochanda Hiligh-Thomas, '96, and UDC Law student Margarita Varela Rosa upon selection by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser as Commissioners. The photos below were taken on September 17 at the DC Convention Center at a ceremony attended by over one thousand DC community leaders, their friends and family.

Rochanda, who serves as the Executive Director of the UDC Law alumnae-founded Advocates for Justice and Education is continuing her service on the State Advisory Panel on Special Education. Margarita, a part-time law student who is President of the UDC Latino/a Law Students Association and the lead organizer of the Puerto Rican Diaspora conferences, will serve as a Commissioner on the Commission on Latino Community Development.
