Texas U.S. Senate Candidate Beto O'Rourke with Dallas County Commission District 2 candidate Wini Cannon, '83Winifred, "Wini" Cannon, '83, who ran unopposed in the primaries, is the Democratic Party nominee for District 2 of the Dallas County Commission.  Pictured at left with U.S. Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke, Wini is running for an open seat, which was vacated by Mike Cantrell, the lone Republican on the five member Commission.

Cannon, a former Dallas Municipal Court Judge, is running against JJ Koch, who won the Republican primary in a run-off, narrowly beating Vickers Cunningham - despite Cunningham's having made the news when it was discovered that he had created a trust for his children that hinges on whether they marry someone who is straight, white, and Christian.

Koch, too, has made news for alleged ethical violations - he was recorded offering what was characterized as a bribe by fellow candidate Stephen Stanley to drop out of the primary race.

Each Texas County has four Commissioners and a County Judge who serve on this Court. The County is divided into four districts, and the voters of each district elect a Commissioner to serve a four-year term. All the voters of the County elect the County Judge to a four-year term. Dallas County had over 2.3 million residents at the 2010 Census and voted for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump by a 61 to 35% margin.
