"To fight racism, stop trying to fix people. Fix the system that supports racism."

Former US Justice Department Chief of Special Investigations, Jonathan Smith, '84, was interviewed and featured in Courtland Milloy's June 6, 2018 Washington Post Column.

“What I learned from the investigations is that we are dealing with structural problems, and race is baked into the structure,” said Smith, who is now executive director of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
