In a Washington Post article posted online on June 9, reporter Phillip Bump extensively quotes former Antioch School of Law Government Accountability Project Clinic Director Steve Kohn, now a partner in the DC Whistleblower protection law firm Kohn, Kohn and Colapinto, LLP with alums Michael Kohn, '85 and David Colapinto, '88.

In the Post article, Kohn called Trump's attorney's threats to file a complaint against former FBI Director James Comey "frivolous grandstanding" and argued that Comey's speech was not only constitutionally protected, but that filling a complaint could be seen as illegal retaliation under the Whistleblower Protection Act.

Tom Devine, '80, Legal Director of the Government Accountability Project and current UDC Law Government Accountability Clinic Director, agreed that  any retaliation by Trump may be illegal, citing U.S. Code Title 18, Section 1513 which, "makes it a federal offense for anyone who “with the intent to retaliate, takes any action harmful to any person, including interference with the lawful employment or livelihood of any person, for providing to a law enforcement officer any truthful information relating to the commission or possible commission of any Federal offense.”
