It was a while ago, but we would be remiss should we fail to report on a memorable January evening in San Francisco spent by Dean Shelley Broderick and a group of alums in a Mexican restaurant!

Here is the Dean’s report:

“Alejandro Soto-Vigil, ’08 was the big surprise attendee - turns out that he and Teresa Allen, ‘08 (nee Fulford) are close pals.  Alejandro has a great job as top aide to Jesse Arreguin, the charismatic young mayor of Berkeley.  Alejandro offered to – once again – to let us auction use of his family’s Puerto Vallarta apartment again this year to raise funds for our Summer Fellowship program. He showed me pictures and video of spectacular views!!!! Wow - I want to go!!!

Theresa is married to a train engineer and they have 3 young movie star-looking sons. Last year she started working for a firm called Potter Handy out of San Diego She works from home and tries cases all over the Northern California area. After UDC Law she got a Masters in litigation from George Washington.

Karen Clopton, ’83, is Chief Administrative Law Judge for the California Public Utilities Commission and it was really fun to reconnect with her -  I totally remember her – that she went to Vassar, Antioch and then went to Europe on a Maguire Fellowship and lived in London and Geneva for a couple of years.. She became the first African American woman appointed to the San Francisco Civil Service Commission. And she reports that she loves her current job!

Don Padou, ‘11 and his wife live in Murphy's, California. His client base remains folks who sue the DC government and he travels to DC every other month or so!  Don fondly remembers an auction fundraising pub crawl with Tom Mack and me - and the time that Judge Pryor kissed him in front of Dean Annamaria Steward and “freaked her out”!!

Barbara O’Hearn, '79, (who met up with the UDC Law contingent at the Women’s March in DC a few weeks ago) has practiced labor law her whole life and got her start with a 10 credit internship at the US DOL. Fun night!!!!”
