DC activist and filmmaker, Aviva Kempner, '76, is re-releasing her terrific film - with loads of new footage!  Below is the announcement from the Ciesla Foundation with a link for ordering the CD.

The Ciesla Foundation is proud to announce the DVD re-release of Aviva Kempner's 1999 film, The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg. The previous DVD was out of print and no longer available to the public. The new two disc commemorative DVD set, released in April 2013 includes over two hours of extras, drawn from the many outtakes that never made it into the original film, on subjects such as Hank’s managerial years, players’ stories about World War II and marvelous fan and family stories. Of these many hidden treasures is a never used telephone interview with Ted Williams where the slugger speaks warmly of Hank as a fellow slugger and friend as well as additional footage of those who were previously in the film. We have also shot new interviews with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former player Minnie Minoso and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg is a feature length documentary film about an extraordinary baseball player who transcended ethnic and religious prejudice to become a hero for all Americans. Hank Greenberg’s achievements during the "Golden Age of Baseball” in the thirties and forties rivaled those of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. As America’s first Jewish baseball star, he helped break down the barriers of discrimination in American sports and society. Greenberg was a beacon of hope to millions of American Jews who faced bigotry during the Depression and World War II.
