Courses On-line

In order to facilitate classroom communication and document sharing, School of Law professors may place their courses on Westlaw's TWEN, LexisNexis Web Courses, or another on-line course management system. If so, the professor and his or her teaching assistants will use that system to reach you via e-mail and post course materials.

It is important to check at the beginning of each semester that you are enrolled in any on-line components of your courses. Upon receiving a course syllabus that indicates an on-line component, you should log into the indicated website to confirm that you have been added to the course or add yourself if necessary.

  • In Westlaw, click the TWEN button at the top, and your courses are listed on the first page. To see which courses are available, click 'Add Course.'
  • In LexisNexis, click Web Courses, then Access Web Courses, and your courses are listed on the first page. To see which courses are available, click on the course directory.

TWEN and Lexis Web Courses are accessed using your individual Westlaw and LexisNexis passwords, which are distributed by the Law Library. If a particular class requires an extra enrollment password, you can obtain that password from your professor or TA.

If your e-mail address changes, you must update the address attached to your Westlaw and LexisNexis accounts. School staff members do not have access to your Westlaw and LexisNexis account settings, and cannot update e-mail addresses or passwords for you.

Technical questions about individual accounts and passwords should be directed to the Mason Law Library's Access Services Librarian, John Jensen, at or (202) 274-6597.

If you are a law faculty member or teaching assistant, and you would like assistance with creating a new course on TWEN or LexisNexis, please contact the Access Services Librarian, John Jensen, in the Law Library.
