In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the passage of the ADA Amendments Act, the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law) and UDC Law Review will host a symposium titled Disability Rights: Past, Present, and Future on March 29, 2019. The multidisciplinary symposium will bring together people with disabilities, disability rights advocates, practitioners, law professors, law students, legislators, and other academics, students, and community members to explore disability law and policy. Chai Feldblum, former Commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, will give the keynote address.

The symposium will address key topics in disability law and policy, with the important goal of protecting and improving disability rights in today’s challenging environment and tomorrow’s uncertain future. Topics include:

  • The ADAAA: 10 + Years Later;
  • The ADA: The Next 10 Years;
  • Disability and Education;
  • Disability and the #MeToo Movement;
  • Disability and the Military Community; and
  • Disability Beyond the Workplace;
  • Disability, Leave, and Caregiving;
  • Disability, Police Interactions, and the Criminal Justice System.
