Phi Delta Phi has one hundred and twenty-seven active chapters -- called Inns -- in the Western Hemisphere and the number increases yearly. Phi Delta Phi has initiated in excess of 191,000 members making it the largest legal fraternity in existence.
The H. Carl Moultrie Inn at the University of the District of Columbia is the only honors legal fraternity on campus. The organization seeks to create networking opportunities by sponsoring academic and social activities.
On March 28, 2008, the H. Carl Moultrie Inn's Right & Justice Speakers Series featured Georgia-based attorney Brenda "BJ" Bernstein. Ms. Bernstein is the lawyer who freed a black teenager, Genarlow Wilson, after he was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for having consensual oral sex with another teenager. She also succeeded in changing the law in Georgia, by advocating for a "Romeo and Juliet" law that considers the age difference between teenagers who engage in consensual sexual activity. Attorney Bernstein is the first winner of the H. Carl Moultrie Inn's Right & Justice Award.
