Environmental Law Society

Mission:

The mission of the Environmental Law Society (ELS) of the David Clarke School of Law School is to provide an outlet to enhance the academic experience through programs designed to give law students exposure to legal skills and local professionals on environmental law related issues. The objectives of the ELS may be achieved through:

Guest speakers, such as interested faculty members, local authorities on environmental issues, and practicing attorneys in the field of environmental law;
Working with local organizations to improve the environmental quality of the community;
Providing priority access to resource materials, internship availability, and networking opportunities;
Encouragement of open discussions of current environmental issues through speakers and debates.

A Welcoming Meeting for the Incoming Law Students!

The UDC-DCSL Environmental Law Society would like to formally welcome the new 1L's and introduce our organization. Anyone interested in joining the Environmental Law Society is encouraged to attend. We have some great events in mind for the upcoming school year and would like some input from the 1L's. This is a great chance to be involved in an area of law that remains an important, however, highly debated, issue that affects everyone.

Speaker Panel: "Environmental Justice - Alaska to Anacostia", featuring attorneys and organizers from the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), and the Sierra Club.
