Graduation Information

For Friends and Family

The School of Law's graduation ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the UDC Theater of the Arts, Building 46E, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. (Parking garage entrance on Van Ness Street or Metro Red Line to Van Ness-UDC Station). The event will conclude at approximately 4:00 pm, and will be followed by a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres.

For Students

Following is a list of events and deadlines leading up to graduation. Please check back occasionally for updates. (Last updated April 25, 2017.)

NOW What: Graduation Invitation Distribution
Where/When: Graduating students can pick up graduation invitations from Ms. Young-Jones, Mr. Harris, or Ms. Dunston between the hours of 9:30 am and 6:30 pm on the 4th Floor. (Invitations are not tickets; students may invite as many guests as they like.)

What: Voting for Graduation Awards, Speakers, Class Photo Date, and Superlatives
Where: TWEN
Please log into TWEN and look for “2017 Graduation” in “My Courses” to access the quizzes and polls to cast your votes. Voting will be open until Friday night at 11:59pm.
Tuesday, April 25th What: Class of 2017 Day at Soapstone Market!
Where: Soapstone Market
Please enjoy 20% off all purchases as Soapstone Market on April 25, 2017, courtesy of the owner of the market. Please check your UDC email for the barcode to be presented at checkout in order to receive your discount.

What: Graduation Regalia Pickup
When: 9am – 6pm Monday - Thursday; 9am – 3pm on Friday
Where: UDC Bookstore - Main Campus, Building 38, Level A
Beginning April 25th, regalia for eligible law school candidates may be picked up from the University Bookstore during the hours above. Please pick up your regalia from the Bookstore as soon as possible, but no later than Tuesday, 5/9/2017. You will not be charged for the regalia, but you must present ID and sign for it. Regalia may not be picked up by anyone else other than the student noted on the package. If you have issues with the regalia (no tassel in your package, hat does not fit, etc.), please contact or come to the Registrar's Office (Suite 212) to resolve them. Extras are available.

Regalia Return
All regalia must be returned to the Registrar's Office, NOT the Bookstore, either immediately following the ceremony on Friday, May 19th (before 6pm), or during the week following graduation. You will not be cleared until all pieces of the regalia (except the tassel and, if applicable, honor cord) are returned to the Registrar's Office, and you are checked off. If you are unable to return it personally, please ask someone you trust to do so. You may also mail it back. If the regalia is not returned, a hold will be placed on your account, and transcripts, enrollment and bar certifications, etc., will not be processed!
By Appointment What: Graduation Portraits
When: By Appointment
Graduation photos will be provided by Panoramic Visions Photography. If you were unable to have your portrait taken when Panoramic Visions was on campus, please contact Dean Steward’s office for assistance in making alternate arrangements to have your graduation portrait taken.

When: Students should arrive at 12:15 pm for head count, group photos, etc. Guests should arrive at 2:00 pm.
