Advocates for Justice and Education Walk and Roll Against BullyingSchool of Law Assistant Director of Career Services and Professional Development Vanita (Saleema) Snow, '97, and several other alumnae came out to support the Advocates for Justice and Education's (AJE) annual 5K Walk and Roll Against Bullying on September 21.  In the photo, in back, are Saleema, with headscarf, standing next to Tammy Seltzer, '97.  In the center row from left, are Tonia Dansby, '97, Kim Jones, '97 and Rochanda Hiligh-Thomas, '96.  In the front are Jazmone Taylor, '12 and current law student Nermin  Abdel Wahab, '16.

(Additional photos, below!)

AJE, co-founded and is directed by Kim Jones, is a DC nonprofit law firm that was built upon the experience Kim and her co-founder, Bethann West James, '97, gained in the School of Law's Juvenile and Special Education Clinic.  See http://www.aje-dc.org/

According to its website,

In 1996, Advocates for Justice and Education, Inc. (AJE) was created as a mechanism to increase parental involvement in the education of children with special needs.  AJE uses parent empowerment as a model to address grave injustices in the delivery of services to meet the most basic special education needs.

AJE was formed to motivate and educate parents, and those working with parents about the laws that govern special education and related services, and the consequences of institutional negligence and/or inappropriate classification of students with special needs.
