Above, D.C. People's Counsel, Sandra Mattavous Frye, '83, upon receiving the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law Advocate for Justice Award at the 2013 Honors Convocation. Alumni Public Interest Watch Dogs! On July 12, 2013, two School of Law alumni were in the news as a result of their public interest work keeping industry and elected officials honest. D.C. People's Counsel, Sandra Frye Mattavous, '83, was quoted in a front page story on how alternative energy suppliers are overcharging DC Residents. See Post story HERE Also on July 12, the D.C. Board of Government Ethics and Government Accountability's Director of Government Ethics, Darrin Sobin, '92, was quoted extensively with regard to the fining of DC Councilmember and former Mayor Marion Barry for his receipt of $13,600 in illegal gifts from DC Contractors.
