Bernie Grimm, '83 alum and criminal defense attorney at Cozen O'Connor, was quoted by The Blog of LegalTimes on a case involving a criminal defense attorney and private investigators fabricating evidence. Last week a federal judge found criminal defense attorney Charles Daum and private investigators Iman and Daaiyah Pasha guilty of conspiracy to obstruct justice. Bernie Grimm represented Daaiyah Pasha, one of the private investigators found guilty in the conspiracy scheme.
In remarks about the verdict, Grimm noted U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler's praise for the defense bar. "Unfortunately, although unintended, this verdict will have a chilling effect on solo practitioners or small firms that are easy targets for the Justice Department," said Grimm. "It also will also require criminal defense lawyers to further distance themselves from their clients."
