Carolyn Waller '77 published a Letter to the Editor in The Washington Post in support of the Maryland Dream Act. Waller writes, "It is sad to know that members of our community would punish young people for decisions made by their parents or guardians. It is even sadder that they would deny the benefit of in-state tuition to these students when the Dream Act, in addition to imposing other obligations, requires their parents or guardians to have paid taxes for at least three years.

Assisting such students to fulfill their potential is not a subsidy but an investment in their future and in the future of our community."
