Prince George's County Board of Education Chairwoman Verjeana Jacobs, '96, is quoted in the Maryland Gazette on Maryland's "doomsday” default budget, which mandates $51 million in cuts to the school system.
"We want [legislators] to come back and settle whatever it is the issues
are and make sure that they pass an appropriate budget,” said school
board chairwoman Verjeana M. Jacobs. "Clearly, we’re not looking forward
to losing $51 million, but I’m pretty confident ... we’re going to get
through that process.”
