Maryland Delegate Tiffany T. Alston (D-Prince George's), '02, is quoted in WTOP on her bill eliminating judges deciding photo ticketing cases. The bill, if passed, would have allowed a lawyer to be selected to service as "master" to decide the guilt or innocence of those accused by a red light camera or speed camera. This master would be paid directly from the revenue collected from finding ticket recipients guilty.
"Right now in the state, we have a deficit in judges," she said. The bill died in committee, but Alston plans to reintroduce the bill next session.
