Joyce Aceves-Amaya '10 is the founder of Aceves & Associates, PLLC.
She graduated magna cum laude from the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law
in Washington, D.C., where she served on the Editorial Board of the
UDC-DCSL Law Review and authored "Appealing to the Legislature: A
Comparative Analysis of the Georgia Statutes Regarding Evidence
Preservation and Access to Post-Conviction DNA Testing" which was
published in Spring 2010. In January 2010, she presented the appellant’s
oral argument in In re A.O.T. before the D.C. Court of Appeals, which
resulted in a favorable decision on behalf of her client.
Joyce has represented clients in matters in D.C. Superior Court, D.C. Court of Appeals, D.C. Office of Employee Appeals, and the D.C. Contract Appeals Board as well as the Student Hearing Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Additionally, she participated in the litigation of numerous veterans compensation claims before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where she is an accredited veterans' representative.
She was employed by a large law firm in Bethesda, Maryland prior to founding Aceves & Associates.
