The Charles N. and Hilda H. M. Mason Law Library began the experiment to teach law students professional research skills in the practice settings of the law school clinics.
The goal is to teach advanced legal research skills, help each student individually by modeling professional skills, and providing support for student learning in a practice setting in real time.
Over one year later, their experience has been successful with students and faculty. Now there are three public services librarians embedded in three of the law school’s eight clinics. In addition, one faculty member requested that a librarian be embedded in his seminar, and he has requested the librarian to return to his future seminars. Each embedded librarian has a J.D., M.L.I.S., and some law practice, internship or law clinic experience.
