Professor John Brittain in Capitol Hill Panel Discussion and Magnet 'Showcase'

Professor John Brittain was a featured speaker at the Magnet Schools of America panel discussion in the Rayburn House Office Building on February 14th. Education Week contributing writer Mark Walsh led the panel discussion with Professor Brittain discussing the legal parameters of using race to promote diversity. in schools. Professor Brittain advised school districts could use race in their school assignment policies when part of a broad range of factors.

The other other panel experts included:
  • Richard Kahlenberg, Senior Fellow at the Century Foundation
  • Phillip Tegeler, Executive Director of the Poverty and Race Research Action Council
  • Dr. Judith Stein, Executive Director, National Institute for Educational Options, NOVA Southeastern University
