In May 2011, a federal judge in Washington, D.C. approved a $1.25 billion settlement and conditionally agreed to a fee range that could generate a $92.5 million award to be split among all the lawyers involved in a class action involving black farmers who missed out on a government loan discrimination settlement more than a decade ago. As part of the agreement, Crowell & Moring litigation partner and co-lead class counsel Andrew Marks said class attorneys are discussing the possibility of using UDC-DCSL students to assist class members with tax questions related to the settlement.
