Ms. Dena Bauman, Career Services Director and Adjunct Professor of Law, was elected to the Nominating Committee of The Association for Legal Career Professionals (NALP) to serve as the Mid-Atlantic law school representative. Over the next year, she and other committee members will oversee the selection and election process for NALP leadership positions.
Ms. Bauman says, "I am honored that that my colleagues elected me to represent them on the Nominating Committee. The legal market is undergoing profound changes and NALP provides a critical forum to discuss, research and analyze market trends and respond to new challenges. Serving on the Committee allows me to represent the UDC School of Law and publicize our public interest mission, outstanding clinical curriculum and diverse student body with legal employers and law school representatives across the country.”
This is Ms. Bauman's second elected NALP position. In 2007-2008 she was the regional representative for the Mid-Atlantic law schools and helped plan the 2008 annual conference in Toronto. She has also presented at numerous NALP conferences, including the Canadian Section annual meeting last fall. In 2007, Ms. Bauman spearheaded the creation of a new NALP section for career development offices with only one or two professionals.
NALP is the Association for Legal Career Professionals, a national organization dedicated to facilitating legal career counseling and planning, recruitment and retention, and the professional development of law students and lawyers. NALP has more than 2300 individual members and 1300 organizational members in the United States and Canada.
