3 UDC-DCSL Students Honored for their Summer Internships

Three UDC-DCSL students including Jose Campos, Erin Herrero, and Samantha Holley, were honored at UDC's Initiative on Equity, Civic Engagement & Community Leadership Banquet on August 8, 2011 for their summer internships. Their internships were underwritten by the Live to Give Charitable Trust in support of the University of the District of Columbia’s Initiative for Civic Engagement, Equity and Community Leadership (ICE), which focuses on public service, community/civic engagement, research and scholarship. The organizations in which they worked are as follows: Jose Campos, rising 3L, Latino Economic Development Corporation
Erin Herrero, rising 3L, summer intern in the UDC-DCSL Low Income Taxpayer Clinic
Samantha Holley, rising 2L, ACLU

Equity, Civic Engagement & Community Leadership Banquet on August 8, 2011.
The banquet was held Monday, August 8, 2011 to honor 12 UDC interns (2 from UDC-DCSL) and to thank the Live to Give Charitable Trust Fund, which made the internships possible. The dinner was held at B. Smith's at Union Station and featured speeches by Heather Burns (founder of the Live to Give Charitable Trust), Kathleen Maloy (Live-to-Give Charitable Trust), UDC President Dr. Allen L. Sessoms, Professors G. Derek Musgrove and Meena Srinivansan (Directors of the ICE) as well as many of the interns who were able to attend. Dr. Sessoms congratulated the interns as "demonstrating the great talent that lies within UDC." Click here for more information and photos.
