On February 25th 2011 Professor Julius Getman, Earl E. Sheffield Regents Chair at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, spoke at UDC about his book, "Restoring the Power of Unions: It Takes A Movement.” He discussed labor history and recent organizing struggles in the Southwest and Wisconsin. Additionally, he talked about how a resurgent labor movement is possible, proposing new models for organizing and innovative techniques to strengthen the strike weapon.  Above all, Professor Getman urged unions to return to their historical roots as a social movement.
