On February 25th, 2011 Professor Paul Butler, George Washington University, spoke to UDC about his book, "Let’s Get Free: A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice.” Professor Butler discussed discriminatory drug laws and how our current policy of mass incarceration for nonviolent drug offenses is counterproductive and leads to more crime. Professor Butler also discussed jury nullification and how technology can improve the justice system. A former federal prosecutor in the Department of Justice, Paul Butler has been featured on CNN and the Washington Post and has written for the Post, the Boston Globe, and the Los Angeles Times.
