Prof. Howells Wins Washington Council of Lawyers' President's Award

Congratulations to Prof. Louise Howells, who has won the Washington Council of Lawyers  2009 President's Award for her work with tenant organizations and in preserving affordable housing in the District. 
Founder of UDC-DCSL’s Community Development Law Clinic, Prof. Howells was nominated by UDC-DCSL Public Interest and Clinical Programs Director Karen Forman and Prof. Laurie Morin who wrote, "As a transactional lawyer and teacher, specializing in affordable housing for the past 28 years, her work has impacted thousands of low-income individuals and families and inspired hundreds of law students." 
The nomination was supported by letters by Antonia Fascanelli of the Homeless Person's Representation Project, Prof. Susan Bennett of American University Washington College of Law's Community and Economic Development Law Clinic, Anne Smetak of the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, and UDC-DCSL Dean Shelley Broderick, among others.
