Washington, DC—On Sunday, 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' tackled yet another police-related issue in its main monologue, this time including the research of Phil Stinson, '92.
While explaining to the viewers that the government doesn't keep track of police officers involved in shootings, he highlighted Stinson's independent research—setting up Google Alerts—and explained how he is the only person with comprehensive data on the subject.
"'In fact, the best numbers on police misconduct come from a researcher named Philip Stinson, who accumulated over a decades worth of data by setting up 48 Google alerts 2005. Google alerts! And his stats are truly chilling," Oliver said.
