Washington, DCThe entire University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC-DCSL) family is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that transpired in Orlando last night.

It’s important to remember that this transcends issues of radicalized religious beliefs or politicized gun control battles. This is about love and hate for others. We want to believe love supersedes hate. Sadly, last night, hate won. But the right and proper answer to hate is more love. We can rally together and collectively extinguish hate with a massive outpouring of love. This attack provides irrefutable evidence that—despite progress against all forms of bigotry—the work of civil rights lawyers, activists and all loving human beings remains incomplete.

UDC-DCSL is proud of its commitment to the LGBTQIA community and its struggle for equality over the years. We cherish our faculty & students who identify as LGBTQIA—the law school is a better place because of them.
