Washington, DC—The General Practice Clinic and Housing Clinic are excited to launch a new project this semester, “Military Thursdays.” The project represents a collaboration between the law school and the Starbucks Armed Forces Network. On the first Thursday of the month (February through May 2016) from 6:15 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. clinic students will meet with veterans in the D.C. community to discuss their legal issues. Students will assist veterans with housing, family law, employment, public benefits, and other civil legal needs, as well as military discharge upgrades.
The project is modeled after the “Military Mondays” initiative spearheaded by Professor Patty Roberts at the William & Mary Law School’s Puller Clinic.
Military Thursdays will take place at one of two Starbucks stores in Chinatown, located at 7th and H Streets NW and 7th and E Streets NW. Interested veterans should call the General Practice Clinic at (202) 274-7312 to make an appointment. Walk-ins will also be accepted.
