Washington, DC—It started as a side project but developed into back-channel dealings that brought an end to nearly 50 years of strained relations between the US and Cuba.
The man at the center of it all was Tim Rieser, '79, a staffer for Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
