The Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia asked UDC-DCSL to host its inaugural half-day “Boot Camp” - an event designed to help law students understand the value of judicial internships and clerkships and to prepare them for the application process. Of course we were delighted! The program took place on Saturday, January 24 on the 5th floor.
Through panels with federal and DC judges, attorneys, and law clerks, and one-on-one meetings with students, the HBA put together a fantastic program co-sponsored with the UDC-DCSL Office of Career Services and Professional Development (OCSPD). Nearly 30 students from the area attended, including six UDC Law students. (Student registration was limited to ensure that the individual meetings would be possible).
Much thanks to Dean Broderick for welcoming our guests, and to 2L student Sebastien Monzon. UDC-DCSL Director of OCSPD, Dena Bauman oversaw the program on Saturday. We thank our administrative team: Michael Harris, Pamala Dunston, Lewis Perry and newcomer Janna Rios who provided superb support in handling the multiple arrangements for parking, room set up, tech needs, etc.
Kudos also to Adrienne Jones, who coordinated student participation in our annual consortium public interest job fair which took place at the George Mason School of Law on Friday, January 23. At this event, our students met and interviewed with dozens of employers in the public interest and government sectors. This event is also a wonderful employer outreach opportunity for the School of Law.
