UDC Clarke School of Law Housing Clinic at the DC Court of Appeals

Supervising attorneys, current and former students of the Housing and Consumer Law Clinic (some of whom made substantial contributions to the appellate brief) gathered to support Robert Newman ’14 (third from left) as he argued a case before the DC Court of Appeals.  Robert was urging the Court to affirm the decisions of the Administrative Law Judge in this case to award our client damages for unlawful rent increases and substantial reduction of services, and to treble those damages based on the heedless disregard of duty by the housing provider, as well as to award attorneys’ fees because our client prevailed - decisions that had already been affirmed by the DC Rental Housing Commission.

Left to right:
Prof. Edward Allen, Prof. Sarah Bardos ‘12, Robert Newman ’14, Julia Rupert ’14, Johan Fatemi ’14, Sean Brown ’14, and Robert Green ’13.
