Alums and friends of the School of Law joined us for a celebration of international culture at our 21st Annual Rauh Summer Public Interest Fellowship Auction on Friday, March 22nd, in the School of Law’s recently renovated fifth floor. Guests came dressed in traditional attire from various cultures, and enjoyed food and music from the many nations represented at the School of Law. The event, which raises funds to support student summer fellowships at a wide variety of public interest law firms, organizations, government agencies and judicial chambers, included live and silent auctions. Items up for bid included Nationals, Capitals and Wizards tickets, vacation homes in Delaware, West Virginia and Shenandoah, and lunches with DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, Councilmember Mary Cheh, and DC Attorney General Irv Nathan. The latter two dropped by to place bids and chat with guests. Other items included a Crab Feast for thirty on the Chesapeake Bay, and the bowtie of famed civil rights attorney and UDC Law Professor John Brittain, who gave an impromptu bowtie tying lesson to the crowd! Professor Brittain and Professor John Terzano served as the evening’s live auctioneers. The School of Law raised nearly $16,000 from live and silent auctions, and individual donations. Thanks to all our auction donors and all those who came out to support our Summer Public Interest Fellowship Program.
