Rex Wingerter, '85, was in the news today in his capacity as Volunteer Coordinator for Casa de Maryland working on the front lines in service to America's young immigrants.
His amusing comment on the kind of documentation needed by young immigrants to prove the length of their residence in the US was quoted on page A 12, the continuation of a front page story entitled "In Search of Their Paper Trail: Among Illegal Immigrants, Documentation for Deferral Leads to Confusion." Speaking about the use of social media records to document their residence, Wingerter opined, "You have to look under every rock, no matter how stupid that rock might be."
Those of us who knew him in law school will be shocked if not saddened at his sarcasm!
In related news, we thank Rex for reaching out to UDC law students who are now being trained by, and volunteering for, Casa de Maryland to assist in this process!
