Welcome to the Charles N. and Hilda H. M. Mason Law Library

This is your Law Library. Here, between its walls, your journey of legal discovery begins. It is a journey that all law students must undertake. That journey, known as legal research, will expand your horizons of legal education. Our Law Library contains print, microform and electronic materials available for your use. Our collections of reports, statutes, administrative materials coupled with many other resources provide outstanding resources in primary and secondary legal authority. The Law Library strives to meet the legal research and legal scholarship needs of law students, law faculty, university patrons, and the general public, by providing access to a broad array of materials. The Law Library is constantly expanding its collection and currently holds approximately 250,000 volumes and volume equivalents. The Law Library's on-line Catalog is available on the Internet at http://catalog.law.udc.edu/search.

The Law Library is also the technology center of the law school. All law school technology needs are managed by the Law Library. The Library is a high tech facility, with access to the Internet available at every seat via the Law Library's wireless LAN. The Law Library has 24,837 linear feet of shelving to house its approximately 250,000 volume collection. There is seating for about 160 patrons with new tables and carrels, with power and lighting available at each seat. The Library is open to the public, though all non-UDC/DCSL patrons are required to sign-in upon entering, and leave a photo ID. All patrons should be mindful of their personal belongings and not leave them unattended.

The Library staff is available to guide and direct you through our resources. Professional librarians provide research assistance and information regarding legal information sources and library policies. Do not hesitate to seek assistance from any member of the law library staff. When you visit the Law Library, please feel free to ask a librarian if you need assistance. We will be happy to assist you. If you have ideas about how we can serve you better, please let us know.
