Roy Balleste

Assistant Professor of Law
Professor Roy Balleste is the Law Library Director & Assistant Professor of Law at the Charles N. and Hilda H. M. Mason Law Library at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Jacksonville University, Florida, the Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, Florida, the Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of South Florida, and the Master of Laws in Intercultural Human Rights (Cum Laude) from St. Thomas University School of Law, Florida. Professor Balleste is responsible for all administrative aspects of the Law Library, including technology. He is an active participant in law library professional organizations.
Professor Balleste primary scholarly interest is in the field of internet governance. He has also concentrated his scholarship on the areas of legal research, artificial intelligence, international law and reference electronic services. Scarecrow Press (a subsidiary of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, Inc.) recently published his book, Law Librarianship in the Twenty-First Century, which he co-edited. Professor Balleste is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Society of International Law. He currently teaches International Human Rights. Before becoming a legal educator, Professor Balleste served in the US. Navy and U.S. Army.
