Greetings from our nation’s Capital!

We are delighted to announce that the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law and Howard University School of Law will co-host the Fourth Annual Capital Area Legal Writing Conference on Saturday, March 1, 2014.  The conference will take place at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law and Howard University School of Law.  We welcome out-of-town participants, new legal writing faculty, and adjunct legal writing faculty!

The conference will include presentations on a broad range of topics, including theories of legal writing pedagogy, teaching and evaluative techniques, developments in legal research and writing scholarship, the use of technology in the classroom, the interrelationship between legal writing and other substantive areas of law, and the future of our profession given changes in the legal academy and the workplace.  We invite proposals for panel presentations on these and any other relevant topics.

Over the next few weeks, we will send out additional information regarding conference registration, presentation proposal submissions, keynote speakers, and hotel accommodations.

We thank our predecessors at George Washington University Law School, Georgetown University Law Center, and American University Washington College of Law for their phenomenal work on this conference over the past three years.  We are very honored to work with our colleagues to continue the tradition!

Best regards,

Sha-Shana Crichton, Cris Houston, and Vanita Saleema Snow
