Detention, Deportation, Death
The Transnational Criminalization of Immigrants
How to Create a Paradigm Shift

If there has ever been a time to bridge the gap in the immigrant rights community, that time is now. The creating of an "other," a criminalized immigrant, has divided the efforts of immigrant rights advocates and prevented the creation of a comprehensive approach to addressing the threats all immigrants face: detention, deportation, and/or death; and in the case of countries like El Salvador, recently passed legislation known as Decree 717 adds additional detention after deportation.

Join Cruz Kontrol of Reyes Del Bajo Mundo and Ricardo Langlois, attorney from El Salvador, among other immigrant rights advocates from the DC metro area, New York and Central America, most of whom are immigrants themselves, as they share their efforts and strategies to brainstorm how to create a paradigm shift to counter the criminalization of immigrants, both in the United States and their countries of origin.

When: Friday, October 20, 2017, at 6:00 PM-7:30 PM with networking ad refreshments after the panel

Where: University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law
4340 Connecticut Ave NW Room 515 (5th Floor)
Washington, DC 20008
