Below you will find a list of housing opportunities and resources supplied by alumni, students and friends of the School of Law. We solicited this information to help UDC Law students not only find housing, but to help you keep expenses as low as possible - because we know that law graduate indebtedness is the single greatest deterrent to the pursuit of public interest legal careers. We asked for information on housing that was affordable, safe and conveniently located to the School of Law - particularly housing in DC itself, so that incoming students can establish residency in time for their second year and, thereby, save tens of thousands of dollars in tuition! However, please note that the School of Law is not in a position to vet these listings and we post them here for your information only. Hello Joe,

My name is Kweku Toure.  My wife Pamela and I own a house in N.E. D.C., in the Fort Totten area.  In fact, the address is 65 Allison Street, N.E., the house is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Fort Totten metro.   We split the house into two units.  The downstairs units has exactly two bedrooms.  The basement area is  used as the second bedroom. Not only does the basement have a large open  area that s used as a bedroom, it has  hard wood floors, one full bathroom, two closets, and, a utility are which can be used as storage.  The unit comes with a washer and dryer.  There is large back yard that can be used for gardening or entertainment purposes.

In the same downstairs unit, there is large living room, moderate size dinning dinning room, large size bedroom, half bath, small closet, and, a large size kitchen with range, micro wave, dishwasher,  stainless steel refrigerator, sink and garbage disposal,  not to mention, cabinets.  The floors in the dinning room and kitchen are tiled. We are asking for $1450 per month all utilities are included.  In order to move in there is a $1,450 security deposit.


The upstairs unit is a one bedroom one full bath unit.  It had two large room and the tenant can decide which one will serve as the primary bedroom or an extra room. Two people can use the upstairs, however, if two people do use upstairs it will impact the rental rate. The unit has a full kitchen and back patio with an open California door (meaning expose to the out side elements but secured).  We rent upstairs for $1,100 per month with the utilities included.  The security deposit is the same as the rent.

(Editor's note: Crestwood is right across Rock Creek Park from UDC and is very beautiful.  If it wasn't for the deep valley of Rock Creek, it would be an easy 5 minute bike ride!)

 I have a furnished bedroom and private bath available in our 5 bedroom home in NW DC that is a 10 minute walk to the Clark School of Law.   Its very nice and bright  and I'd appreciate you posting this listing so students can see it. You can walk a few blocks to bus/metro. We live on a route to points downtown (25 minutes by bus) and to the metro. If you want to experience the city, you can walk to Adam Morgan/Mt Pleasant. We are 1 mile from Dupont Circle (you could walk in nice weather) and the U street corridor for nightlife. Van Ness is a short walk. Our neighborhood 'Crestwood' is well established and surrounded by Rock Creek Park for a quiet woody atmosphere in the heart of DC so jogging, biking is popular. It is safe, quiet neighborhood. where do you work?


We are a semi retired professional couple in our 50s.  The student would have use of our other home amenities;  laundry, patio  park across the street etc.  We do have a small old dog and an indoor/outdoor cat. Neither will have access to this floor. We also have wireless Internet for a computer in the room.  There is a TV in the room. We have parking in front of our home or off street if there is a car to park. There is never any problem with parking.  We are charging $950 a month for one person and this includes cleaning service. The suite is available starting in Aug for the school year.   There is a one month security deposit required that you will get back if there is no damage to the suite. Hi Mr. Libertelli,

My name is Paula, I am in my 3rd year of law school at American. In the HBA-DC newsletter I saw that you are looking for anyone who might have an available place for incoming UDC law students. I am looking for someone to replace me because my room in a Friendship Heights 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment just opened up. However, the building address says it is located in Chevy Chase, MD, not D.C.

The apartment is located in a really beutiful area, full of stores and there is also a movie theater. The walk from the apartment to the metro is 8-10 minutes; however, there is a shuttle that takes you there approximately every half hour. Friendship Heights station is only 2 stops away from the Vann Ness station, where UDC-Law is located.

The apartment will be available to move in on August 2nd. The student who takes the room will be rooming with my current roommate, who is a 2nd year law student at American. We are looking for a female, non-smoker.

Depending on the room the student wants to take the rent is either $1200 or $1100. Both rooms are roughly the same size, but the master room has a walk-in closet and an additional closet.The other room does not have its own closet, but the previous leaser is willing to sell a portable closet.. The utilities and cable are included. This is a tweve month lease. To move in the student would have to pay an application fee of $25 and the first month’s rent when she signs the lease. No deposit money is needed since we already have it covered!

Now about the apartment: the apartment is located in a beautiful building; it has a great gym and a roof top pool. Also, the apartment is located on the last floor (17) and it has an amazing view. Below I am sending a link of the building.
