The Office of Alumni Relations:Most of this work has been made possible by the collection and maintenance of our alumni e-mail list, which now includes over 1000 alumni e-mail addresses. Through the power of our e-mail list, we assist hundreds of alumni each year in one way or another!
Through the e-mail list, we invite alumni to a wide range of law-related events - most of which are free of charge. See the School of Law Events Calendar for upcoming event information and use the Alumni Contact Form to sign up our e-mail list! Or contact Joe Libertelli at JLibertelli@udc.edu or at 202-274-7338.
Perhaps the most popular single service is our e-mailed Career Bulletin, originated by Alumni Relations and now produced by Dena Bauman, Director of the Office of Career Services (OCS). Dena also helps alumni with individual career counseling. You can sign up to receive the Bulletin by filling out our Alumni Contact Form and be sure to include your e-mail address.
If you would like our career help, please first familiarize yourself with our OCS web section and then contact OCS Director Dena Bauman at Dbauman@udc.edu or 202-274-5722. While her first priority is students, followed by recent graduates, she and Alumni Relations Director Joe Libertelli (JLibertelli@udc.edu or 202-274-7338) are very happy to work with any alum!
The District of Columbia School of Law (DCSL) was created from the Antioch School of Law (ASL) in 1988 after a vigorous largely student and alumni-led grassroots campaign. In 1996, the new law school was merged with the University of the District of Columbia, and was later renamed for former DC Council Chairman and DCSL Professor David A. Clarke.
The law creating the District's public law school specifically mandated that graduates of the Antioch School of Law are alumni for the purposes of all services and for electing University Trustees. Annually, increasing numbers of Antioch School of Law graduates support the new School by donating and attending reunions and other events.
The UDC-DCSL Office of Alumni Relations' aim is to build as broad and mutually supportive an alumni community as possible. As a result, all ASL, DCSL, and UDC-DCSL graduates AND those who - either as matriculated students or visitors - were enrolled for at least one full semester in any of these law schools, are invited to participate. Students who began at one of our schools and who left the study of law or who transferred out for whatever reason are welcome to participate as alumni.
We also include as alumni all those who participated in Antioch University's paralegal and the law-related master's programs which were affiliated with the Antioch School of Law in Washington, DC - especially our M.A.T. "Clinical Fellows" who taught at ASL. Former faculty and staff are also welcome to participate in all alumni activities. The only limitation is that degree holders alone may participate in the election of alumni representatives on the UDC Board Trustees.
The very best way to be included in alumni activities and be invited to reunions, career fairs, lectures, panel discussions, and to request and receive referrals of all types is to give us your e-mail address. Please join our thousand-strong alumni network! We would also love to have your home and work mailing addresses, contact phone numbers, and your practice areas, if any. Don't forget to indicate whether you would like to receive our regular e-mailed Career Bulletin. You can join this list by filling out the Alumni Contact Form.

There are many ways alumni have helped keep the flame of our diverse, clinically-oriented, public-spirited law school burning brightly! Solicitations for the following kinds of alumni involvement are sent out periodically to our e-mail list:

Alumni financial support is crucial not only because of the direct purposes it serves - supporting students' interest in public interest law, supporting the organization that serves clients, and the direct service to clients - but because both the number of donations from alumni and the total amounts are carefully noted by the American Bar Association in their analysis of the level of support for the School.
So we like to say that such donations result in "four bangs to the buck!" Whether you've donated lately or not, please consider a tax deductible contribution!
Checks should be made payable to the DC School of Law Foundation "DCSLF" with a notation to the particular purpose you wish to support (Equal Justice Works Summer Fellowship Program, Center for Immigration Law and Practice, Scholarships, BLSA Scholarship, General Support) and send c/o Shelley Broderick, UDC David A. Clarke School of Law, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20008.
Or you can donate on line at the DC School of Law Foundation website.
Between October 1, 2002 and today, more than 500 different alumni have made contributions totaling over $200,000 dollars in amounts ranging from $10 to $21,000!
Slightly more Antioch School of Law alumni have donated than new law school grads - which is understandable since there are still about twice as many ASL alumni!
