Lawyering Process Assignment
During your first year, you will take Lawyering Process I and II, which are intensive practice skills courses that focus on legal reasoning, including case analysis, case synthesis, and statutory analysis; legal research and problem solving; and the fundamentals of a basic tool in the practice of law: legal writing. In the Lawyering Process courses, students learn how to link knowledge of the law with skills needed to apply that knowledge effectively. In order to begin that process, the following letter from Professor Christine Jones, Director of Legal Writing, contains your first academic assignment, which is due by the first day of Orientation, August 13, 2008. Orientation
The Orientation Program will be held Wednesday, August 13 through Friday, August 22. Orientation is mandatory for all first-year students, and will include Law & Justice and Lawyering Process I, your first for-credit courses; a session on Ethics and Professional Responsibility; and a discussion on career opportunities. Registering for Classes
First year students must use the “Early Bird” registration method. “Early Bird” registration forms will be available on this website beginning Monday, July 14, 2008. On-site registration will be held on Monday, August 11 and Tuesday, August 12 for entering students who have questions or special needs regarding matriculation or financial aid.
Students with Disabilities

Financial Aid Applications

Official Transcripts
You must submit your official final undergraduate transcripts, and graduate transcripts, if applicable, showing the degree awarded and the graduation date no later than July 15, 2008. The transcripts should be submitted to the Office of Admission. The transcripts contained in your LSAC Law School Report are copies and unofficial.
E-mail Group for New Students
The Office of Admission has created a Yahoo e-mail group to serve as a means of communication for students entering UDC-DCSL in Fall 2008. The group is not intended to replace this blog, but rather is a resource for getting answers to specific questions and communicating with your fellow incoming students. The group is moderated by a UDC-DCSL student who can answer many of your questions about the school or find answers for you. (more…)

Suggested Reading
We encourage you to learn more about UDC David A. Clarke School of Law by familiarizing yourself with our policies and standards. On the Student Handbook page, you may view the Student Handbook and Honor System Handbook for 2007-2008, and the School’s Tolerance Statement. Handbooks for 2008-2009 will be released this summer.

Clinical Program
During your first year, you will participate in the “Law and Justice” seminar, as well as the School of Law’s Community Service Program. During your second and third years, you will participate in the School’s clinical program.
