The International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi, established in 1869 to foster scholarship, civility, and ethical conduct in the legal profession, is among the oldest legal organizations in the United States. Phi Delta Phi has one hundred and thirty-one active chapters -- called Inns -- in the Western Hemisphere and the number increases yearly. Phi Delta Phi has initiated in excess of 200,000 members.

The H. Carl Moultrie Inn at the University of the District of Columbia is the only honors legal fraternity on campus. The organization seeks to create networking opportunities by sponsoring academic and social activities.
