Our next Argument Day group admission will be on April 25, 2012.
The School of Law sponsors a U.S. Supreme Court Bar group admission and swearing-in ceremony for its alumni once or twice per year. The deadline for applications is typically six weeks prior to the ceremony. Applications must be submitted directly to the School of Law for these group admissions. Space is limited, so if you are interested in participating in the next ceremony, please contact Alumni Relations Director Joe Libertelli for more information.
To be eligible for United States Supreme Court Bar membership, alumni must have been members of the bar in good standing of the highest court of their jurisdiction for the past three years, present a certificate of good standing from that court, be sponsored by two current members of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar, pay a fee and present a completed application. You are allowed only one guest inside the courtroom. For complete admission information and forms, visit the U.S. Supreme Court Bar Admission website.
Our tradition is for the Dean and Alumni Director to meet with candidates for admission the morning of their swearing in ceremony for an a la carte breakfast in the Supreme Court Cafeteria. There is no limit to the number of guests at the breakfast.
The School of Law has a number of professors and administrators who are members of the Supreme Court Bar who may be willing to sponsor alumni. If you think you may need help identifying sponsors, please contact us.
For more information about future swearing in ceremonies, contact Director of Alumni Relations, Joe Libertelli at JLibertelli@udc.edu or (202) 274-7338.
