Melissa Hale is Assistant Director of Academic Success and Bar Preparation Programs. She teaches Legal Reasoning and Legal & Bar Success Foundations.

Prior to joining the School of Law, Professor Hale was a member of the faculty at University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth School of Law where she developed a comprehensive bar exam review program and taught courses for first year students that focused on core subjects, study skills, test taking skills and lawyering skills.

She also served as Head Attorney Instructor and Vice President of LawTutors, LLC, where she provided individual and group bar exam tutoring, trained other instructors, and created and edited bar preparation materials, including Aspen’s What NOT to Write series and Blond's Multistate Bar Exam. She has also served as an instructor for Emanuel Bar Review and Themis Bar Review. Before becoming a teacher, she was in private practice in Massachusetts, specializing in small businesses and workers’ compensation.

Professor Hale earned her law degree from New England School of Law, where she was on the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law, tutored students in Constitutional Law and legal research, and assisted in researching and editing Sports Law: Cases and Materials by Russ VerSteeg. She passed the New York and Massachusetts Bars.
